Thermo Fisher Announces The Opening of Its Product Contamination Evaluation Facility in US

Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced the opening of its new product contamination evaluation facility in Sugar Land, Texas, US, in a bid to enable food and pharmaceutical manufacturers address safety and quality issues.

The Product Assurance Services and Solutions (PASS) facility offers response for companies requiring offsite packaged product evaluation due to foreign object contamination concerns.

According to the company, the facility can also review products for processing anomalies such as clumps, as well as missing components including empty pharmaceutical blisters and partially-filled candy trays.

PASS North America manager Carl Palmer said the company manufactures and sells metal detectors and X-ray equipment globally and has access to the latest technology.

"If needed, we also can quickly obtain additional equipment to facilitate rapid evaluation of multiple truckload quantities," Palmer said.

PASS facility inspection capabilities can handle a broad range of metal, glass, plastic or paper packaging types, which include rigid as well as flexible structures such as steel cans, metalized film, plastic bottles, blister packs, folding cartons, multilayer materials and more.
