The Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition 2013 will be held in China from June 9-12. As China is one of the major LED lighting markets in the world, Taiwan-based firms such as Epistar, Everlight, Lextar, Lite-On Technology, Genesis Photonics, Delta Electronics and Edison Opto will all participate.
The China government has a series of policies in place to stimulate domestic LED lighting demand. Market observers believe LED demand in China may reach US$10 billion by 2015 and US$22 billion by 2020.
The Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition is one of the most important LED lighting exhibitions in China. More than 2,000 firms from 26 countries have signed up for the event. The exhibition has also invited representatives from major international LED players such as Cree, Philips Lumileds and Veeco to join its forums and discuss market trends.
Compared to 2012, the LED industry is likely to move out of the trough in 2013. Markets such as Europe, the US, Japan, China and Taiwan have been introducing LED street lamp replacement projects to stimulate installations of outdoor LED lighting. According to market research institute, LEDinside, the global output value of outdoor lighting is forecast to reach US$2.478 billion in 2013, representing an on-year growth above 46%.
