Clothing and Clothing Accessories Constitute a Major Item in Spanish Luxury Market

Clothing and clothing accessories constitute a major item in the growing Spanish luxury market, and it accounted for a sale of €545 million, according to a market trend study published by a Spanish company DBK.   The study titled 'DBK Sector Studies: Luxury Clothing and Accessories' states that 70 percent of the sales in entire Spanish luxury market come from the sales of clothing items and 10 percent from that of clothing accessories.

The main reasons for the rise in sales in the luxury clothing market are increase in demand by foreign tourists and the expansion of luxury clothing market in Spain, the study says.   The report further states that the top five luxury clothing companies contributed to 40 percent of the total sales and the top ten companies sold about 60 percent of the total value.   About 55 apparel companies with 215 stores were operational in the luxury clothing sector of Spain during the study conducted for 2012.    The turnover from the sale of luxury clothing and accessories experienced a growth of 1.3 percent in 2011 and 0.9 percent in 2012.

The study predicts that in the coming years there will be a rise in the number of international brand stores in Spain along with an increase in online sales as well.   DBK, a Spanish company, conducts business and competitive analysis of about 700 Spanish and Portuguese sectors and publishes over 300 in-depth studies and 1,000 trend reports every year.
