Polycrystalline silicon solar cell maker Tainergy Tech will expand its total annual production capacity from 700MWp currently to 1GWp in 2015, according to the company.
Tainergy Tech has annual production capacity of 5MWp for solar cells and 1MWp for PV modules in Taiwan, the company said.
In the fourth quarter of 2014, Tainergy Tech set up a joint venture with Kenmec Mechanical Engineering, its parent company, in Vietnam and relocated 100MWp of solar cell production capacity from Taiwan. Tainergy Tech will expand he annual production capacity in Vietnam through further relocating 100MWp from Taiwan and setting up an additional 200MWp to bring its total capacity to Vietnam to 400MWp by the end of 2015, the company indicated. In addition, Tainergy Tech is talking with strategic-partners about setting up PV module production lines in Vietnam. The expansion of production capacity in Vietnam is mainly to cope with US anti-dumping tariff rates on Taiwan-produced solar cells, Tainergy indicated.
Tainergy has an annual production capacity of 100MWp for solar cells in China currently and will expand to 2MWp in 2015, the company said.
Thanks to increasing orders from Asia and Europe, Tainergy Tech saw its business swing from the red into profitability in the fourth quarter of 2014, the company noted.
