In October this year, Turkey's pig iron imports amounted to 51,134 mt, increasing by 6.11 percent month on month and down 34.73 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey's pig iron imports in the given month was $21.85 million, up 2.70 percent month on month and decreasing by 31.06 percent compared to October 2012. According to the data for October this year, the average price for Turkish pig iron imports was $427.34/mt, rising from the average of $404.60/mt recorded in the same month of the previous year.
In the first 10 months of the year, Turkey's pig iron imports totaled 694,716 mt, decreasing by 38.46 percent, with a value of $295.80 million, down 44.06 percent, both year on year.
In January-October this year, Turkey imported 429,177 metric tons of pig iron from Ukraine, down 40.69 percent year on year. However, Ukraine remained Turkey's largest pig iron source in the first 10 months, followed by Russia which supplied 197,323 mt, down 42.34 percent year on year. Meanwhile in October, Ukraine supplied 63.34 percent of Turkey's overall pig iron imports, with a total of 32,386 mt.
