The first images of the Lamborghini Veneno have been leaked ahead of the limited production supercar’s Geneva motor show unveiling.
A leaked image of the Lamborghini Veneno – meaning ‘poison’ in Spanish but also likely the name of yet another fighting bull – was spotted on Automonthly and shows the highly stylised supercar with its aggressive snout, pumped haunches and large rear wing.
While official details of the car that marks the Italian manufacturer’s 50th Anniversary yet to be released, the Veneno is believed to be based on the carbonfibre monocoque chassis of the 515kW/690Nm Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 but employ an uprated version of its 6.5-litre V12 engine producing 544kW and permitting a top speed of 354km/h.
The Lamborghini Veneno will again follow the Aventador’s lead in being all-wheel drive and coming with a seven-speed paddle-shifted gearbox.
Though reports of a pound 3.1 million ($4.6 million) price tag linked to the Veneno are impressive enough, even scarier is that all three cars have reportedly already been sold.
At the launch of the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster in February, Lamborghini’s design director Filippo Perini told CarAdvice that the brand would reveal something “truly special” at Geneva.
“It will be the fastest car Lamborghini has ever produced and will be very low volume,” Perini said.
“We want to shock the world with this car.”
Lamborghini’s director of research and development Maurizio Reggiani further explained that, unlike the Sesto Elemento, the car would not be a track-only proposition.
“The car to be revealed in Geneva will be homologated for the road, although it won’t be a new model,” he said.
