Weaker Demand Resulted in a Slight Softening in Prices for Siberian Larch Lumber

Weaker demand in February resulted in a slight softening in prices for Siberian larch lumber on the Central European markets. From what market insiders say, demand for larch was initially satisfactory at the beginning of the year. However, buyers had apparently only topped up their low inventories at that time. Owing to a low outflow of goods in February, both industrial users and timber merchants no longer have any need to add significant quantities to their stocks. The slack demand has continued in the first half of March so far as well. 32x150mm larch lumber used for making decking, in particular, is in lower demand at the moment than otherwise usual for this time of the year. Lumber in 4m length is also only selling on slowly, whereas demand is somewhat better for 5.1m and 6m material. Source:euwid-wood-products.com
