Deal Continues Education and Research Partnership in Water and Sanitation

Deal continues education and research partnership in water and sanitation.

Suez Environnement and Unesco-IHE Institute for Water Education have renewed their agreement to cooperation in education and research in water and sanitation for the benefit of developing countries.

The Fonds Suez Environnement Initiatiives has provided twenty online scholarships to students from developing countries for the 2013 academic year. The scholarships are for online courses in public and private partnerships (PPP), policy management in developing countries, urban drainage and sewerage, and solid waste management.

The partnership will also focus on supporting the MSc programme in Water Management, involving Suez Environnement  experts as guest lecturers in Public-Private Partnership, Health/Security and Ethics/Sustainable Development. Collaboration in the organisation of fieldtrips within the educational programmes as well as opportunities to undertake joint research and innovation projects will also be explored.

"This partnership is an excellent example of effective cooperation between the private sector and the United Nations system", said rector, Professor Szöllösi-Nagy.

Thierry Mallet, Suez Environnement's executive vice president in charge of innovation and business performance,  added: “We are proud to confirm and enrich our long-term cooperation with UNESCO-IHE in capacity building for water management, thus contributing to achieve effective governance of water resources in developing countries.”

The official renewal signing took place at the Budapest Water Summit in Hungary.
