The new 15,000 square foot toy store has created 30 new jobs in the area.
Smyths Toys Superstores has extended its fleet of toyshops across the UK, opening its latest store in Derby.
The store opened its doors at the Kingsway Retail Park on Saturday, April 5th, creating 30 new jobs in the local area.
The new store’s manager, Thomas Barber reported a ‘successful opening,’ over the weekend with “customers queuing to get in.”
“It’s been totally crazy,” he told the Derby Telegraph.
“We have had an excellent response from the people of Derby since it was announced we would be opening a store here.
“People have been visiting us and wanting to shop even before the official opening day.”
The opening of the new 15,000 square foot store, housed in part of the area’s former Comet unit, was celebrated with character dress up appearances from Pikachu, Skylanders, Fireman Sam, Barbie and Star Wars Stormtroopers.
