The independent toy retailer is calling on local customers to help donate toys to the children's ward this Christmas.
Argosy Toys has launched a charity campaign to deliver new toys to young patients of its local hospital in Southend-on-Sea.
The independent toy retailer is collecting new unopened toys from locals to donate to the Neptune Children’s Ward at Southend Hospital.
To help the cause, Paul Wohl, owner of the Toymaster toyshop in Westcliffe is encouraging customers to buy a toy from in store and ask for it to be donated.
Argosy Toys will then deliver the toys to the Hospital – along with a collection of its own donations – in time for Christmas.
“This simple gesture really does make a massive difference to those children who are in hospital during the festive period,” said Wohl via his store’s Facebook page.
The initiative has already drawn much positive attention from local residents and shoppers, including Susan McCloud, a Southend local, whose son spent time on the Neptune ward.
“What a fab idea,” she said. “We will be up at the beginning of December to definitely donate. My son has spent some time on Neptune, so I will definitely do my bit.”
Picking up on the Facebook feed, Southend Hospital responded in kind to Wohl’s campaign.
“What a fabulous idea,” they said via the social media platform. “Thank you again for contacting us and suggesting this great scheme.”
