Packaging Automation, Crawford Provincial Develop New Freshseal Packing Technology

UK-based Packaging Automation, along with Canadian firm Crawford Provincial, has developed new Freshseal packing format for tomato, berry and fresh produce.

The new packing technology is available in the US, Canada and Mexico.

Freshseal includes the supply of base punnets or trays, film and a heat sealing machine to facilitate the development of new pack format.

Fresh produce suppliers can create colourful custom shaped trays and pre-printed branded film by using the technology.

Different tray materials such as plastic, board, foil and compostable board will also be used to create new pack format with the help of Freshseal technology.

The technology enables films to be pre-printed with branding and images, in addition to offering in a resealable specification and micro perforations.

Freshseal small heat sealing machines provides speeds of up to 30 packs per minute, while the top end machines offer speeds of up to 200 packs per minute.

According to Packaging Automation, Freshseal allows to seal all packaging formats on the same machine with minimal interruption to the packing line.
