German automotive manufacturer Daimler has introduced its first sport utility vehicle (SUV), M-Class 250 CDI, built in its Chakan plant in Maharashtra, India.
The Mercedes M-Class 250 CDI comes equipped with CDI 4MATIC engine mated to 7G-TRONIC PLUS WITH 4WD to generate an output of 151.5kw@4200rpm with a torque of 500Nm.
Daimler International Productions director Ralf Mungenast said, "This is the first Mercedes Benz SUV model made in India and we will further increase the range."
According to the company, the new M-Class 250 CDI is built from CKD units with 30% of localised components.
Currently, Daimler's Chakan plant produces the C Class, E Class and S Class vehicles and claimed to be first M-Class to be rolled out from a local production outside Mercedes-Benz's SUV plant in Tuscaloosa, US.
Further, the company is also planning to produce the new GL Class SUV from semi knocked down kits in India and Indonesia starting next year.
