Swimwear Group Lenita & XTG Has Launched a New Project Beach Concept Factory in Spain

Canary Island based swimwear group Lenita & XTG has launched a new project Beach Concept Factory to go ahead with its new production plan in Spain.
 
The Beach Concept Factory will be operating under the framework of Zona Especial Canaria (ZEC or Canary Islands special zone) and is expected to employ around 30 people to manufacture 300,000 swimwear pieces within the first year of its operation.
 
ZEC has been created to promote economic and social development of the Canary Islands region through diversification of its productive structure.
 
According to a statement issued by ZEC, the Beach Concept Factory’s goal is to employ more than 40 to 45 people by the end of the third year of its operation in order to manufacture around 380,000 garments and implement its logistics facilities to also accommodate other lines of innerwear, swimwear and sportswear.
 
Lenita & XTG relocated a part of its production to China from Canary Islands ten years ago, in order to meet with the growing demand of its products in the European market. 
 
The increase in cost of production and rising cost of wages, tariffs and transportation in the Asian region caused a reverse of 'offshoring' that occurred a little over a decade ago, causing Lenita & XTG to return to Spain under the shelter of the ZEC to develop new business.
 
Nicole Mentado, the daughter of designers Lenita Burman and Luis Mentado of Lenita & XTG would be overseeing the manufacturing of swimwear under the popular brand, in the first phase.
 
In addition to manufacturing swimwear, the Beach Concept Factory would also provide courses and workshops related to processes of cutting and sewing for creating swimsuits.
