Northrop Grumman Has Won Bioinformatics Integration Support Contract (BISC) Worth $30m

Northrop Grumman has won bioinformatics integration support contract (BISC) worth $30m from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for information technology and bioinformatics technology services.

NIH will leverage the technology in gathering, investigation, archiving and switching over of scientific data that is useful for researchers working on immunology and immune-mediated diseases.

Northrop Grumman Information Systems health IT programs vice president Amy Caro said, "Our team will support basic and applied research to prevent, diagnose and treat infectious, immunological and allergic diseases."

Researchers will now be able to use and exchange interoperable data to advance the discovery, for five years.

BISC allows the refinement of NIH's scientific website called ImmPort besides advancement of optimal methods.
