Ruukki's armour steel Ramor attracts industries looking for exceptional materials that provide extreme protection and safe performance.Erlandssons, which makes shooting ranges,is a typical example. But,as managing director Peter Norman points out,"service is equally decisive".
Erlandssons has now initiated a more fully comprehensive partnership with Ruukki for deliveries to its production line and production orders have been fully adapted to the company's activities.Mr Peter Norman said that"Today we get the right product,in exactly the right format we want it,and with excellent technical support."
But this is not just about getting materials and products delivered that do the job,a partnership where the sellers understand all the customer's needs and provide first-rate support is also important. He said that"And that's what we have now, something quite out of the ordinary."
It's all about flexible solutions and deliveries,he explains. Not to mention sellers who actually listen and come up with quick and flexible solutions.
Erlandssons offers industrial service and component manufacturing,in series or as prototypes.Laser and water cutting technology is combined with moulding technology and their customers come from the automotive superstructure, engineering and defence industries often with special requirements for the end product.
Protection and safety are focal points in the manufacturing of complete shooting ranges,or parts of them.Erlandssons has,for example, developed a mobile shooting range and an angled backstop.A testing range is in operation in Luleå,and three shooting ranges are being built for National Police Board in Southern Sweden.
For applications like these,it was only natural that their attention turned a few years ago to Ruukki and its armour steel.Ramor is mainly used for backstops and the steel is direct-quenched.This makes it already harder during the rolling. This year the parties have begun a partnership that has impressed Peter Norman with its service and flexibility.
Large quantities of Ramor 500 have been delivered in different thicknesses.Deliveries have been fast,"Six to eight weeks. We think that's really good."
Ramor is a product range designed to give weldable, ductile and first-rate milling properties. The armour steel has been developed for applications where protection is needed from explosions, along with a high ballistic resistance.
The steel provides protection from the high pressure caused by bullets, explosions and blasting. This makes it attractive for Erlandssons'production, which demands steel with ballistic properties in combination with a high degree of hardness and strength.
The steel does not need thermal processing, which means Ramor can be welded by traditional methods. The product is suitable for laser and plasma cutting, but mechanical cutting can also be used. The steel can be processed with rigid hard metal tools and rigid equipment.
Ramor offers flanged components ready to be used in production. They can be delivered figure cut, primed and edged. This avoids unnecessary transport and storage costs. All that needs to be done is to follow Ruukki's handling instructions and the workshop's safety directives during the processing.
