CAAM's Production and Sales Reports in July 2013

According to statistics from CAAM, in July, 2013, the production and sales of automobiles both suffer decline compared with last month, but maintain growth over the same period of last year. From Jan. to July, production and sales of automobiles maintain a growth rate over 10%%.

1. Production and sales of automobiles maintain a growing trend over the same period of last year

In July, production and sales of automobiles are 1.583 million units and 1.5163 million units respectively, declining a little over last month, but growing 10.2% and 9.9% compared with July 2012. From Jan. to Jul., the production and sales are 12.335 million units and 12.2986 million units respectively, up by 12.5% and 12.0% year on year.

Many enterprises have holidays due to the high temperature and facilities are under overhaul. In July, the production surpasses the sales volume with an increasing stock. Generally speaking, the production and sales decline a little compared with last year, but maintain growth compared with July 2012, meeting up the monthly trends in recent years.

2. Production and sales of commercial vehicles continue to grow over last year

In July, production and sales of commercial vehicles are 284,500 units and 278,700 units, declining 8.7% and 20.5% compared with last month, but increases by 12.8% and 7.5% year on year. The growth rate of commercial vehicle in July drops compared with previous three months.

From Jan. to July, production and sales of commercial vehicles are 2.3717 million units and 2.3958 million units, up by 8.6% and 6.8% year on year, 0.5% and 0.1% higher than that of first 6 months. Among all commercial vehicles, tractors see increasing production and sales, 19.4% and 15.6% year on year respectively. Buses see 12.8% and 12.1% year on year. Complete and non-complete trucks also see growth. Only non-complete buses suffer a lower sales volume over July of 2012.

3. Decrease of exports

In July, a total of 79,900 automobiles are exported, declining by 5.4% over last month and 11.6% year on year, the third month in a row with growth rate lower than that in the same period of last year.

From Jan. to July, a total of 567,500 vehicles are exported, down by 2.2% year on year (0.6% decrease in the first six months). The exports of passenger vehicles are 344,700 units, down by 0.2% year on year; the exports of commercial vehicles are 222,800 units, down by 5% year on year.

According to customs data of CAAM, from Jan. to June, the total import and export value is 74.556 billion USD, down by 3.8% year on year. The import value is 37.417 billion USD, down by 10.1% and the export value is 37.139 billion USD, up by 3.5% year on year, 13.3% lower than that in the same period of last year.

From Jan. to June, the export of complete vehicles is 480,500 units, up by 9.2% year on year (last year, the growth rate is 16.9%). The export of buses is 76,100 units, up by 47.3% year on year; the export of passenger vehicle is 220,100 units, up by 11%; cargo trucks 150,900 units down by 3.9%. The above three vehicles export 447,100 units in total, accounting for 93.1% of total exports. Seen from areas, the export to Latin America ranks first and totals 145,700 units, up by 40.9% year on year. The export to North America enjoys a highest growth rate, but the total volume is less than 10,000 units. The exports to Asia, Europe and Oceania suffer large growth rates. The export to Africa grows by 9.5%.

4. Top ten enterprises remain leading the market

From Jan. to July, the top ten enterprises accumulate to sell 10.8687 million units, up by 13.1% year on year, 1.1% higher than the annual growth rate of the industry, 88.4% of total vehicle sales, and 0.8% higher than that in the same period of last year.

5. Key enterprises remain stable with slight growth

According to statistics from CAAM, from Jan. to June, 17 key enterprises (groups) maintain stable economy, and even see slight increase in many economic indexes.

From Jan to June, the business income grows by 12.2% year on year, 0.8% higher than that in the first five months. The total taxation of profits grows by 21.2% year on year, 3% higher than that in the fist five months. The total industrial output value is 14.4% higher than last year, down by 0.1% compared with that in the first five months. 

By the end of June, the accounts receivable of key enterprises and groups are 193.1 billion RMB, up by 46.3% year on year, 16.7% higher than that in June. The stock capital of complete vehicles of key enterprises and groups is 70.23 billion RMB, down by 17.1% year on year.

Since the beginning of the year, confronted with complex international and domestic environment, key vehicle enterprises and groups make great efforts to ensure their own targets by adjusting product mix, enhancing management and lowering down costs.
