Canadian Railways Have Reported a 0.7 Percent Increase in Freight Volumes in December 2012

Canadian railways have reported a 0.7 percent increase in freight volumes in December 2012 from volumes reported during same month in 2011.

Statistics Canada Freight further reported that freight loaded in both Canada and the US raised during the last month of the year. US traffic provided the strongest growth. Cargos that contributed to the increased tonnage included iron ores, concentrates and other materials.Coal, iron and steel freight transport tonnages in December 2012 experienced month-on-month declines.
