PV System Firms in Europe Have Reportedly to Blacklist Some Asia-Based Solar Module Makers

The global solar market has been plagued by rumors about financial troubles of Europe-and Asia-based solar firms.Hence, some banks and solar PV system firms in Europe have reportedly started to blacklist some Asia-based solar module makers.

Industry sources indicated that when system firms want to obtain funds from lending facilities, the latter will take factors such as solar module brands and components into consideration. These factors define the bankability of the projects.

Nevertheless, due to the debt crisis in Europe and the sudden contraction of funds, governments in Europe have been cutting incentives for solar projects.Even with bankable solar modules and components, system firms have been facing difficulties obtaining loans.

Furthermore, when the solar market was booming, downstream customers paid more attention to the availability over quality of solar modules. Some solar module makers have been sued because of quality and warranty problems.
