Japanese Automobile Production in March This Year Totaled 823,145 Units

Japanese automobile production in March this year totaled 823,145 units, up 1.85 percent month on month but down by 161,418 units or 16.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, indicating a year-on-year fall for the seventh consecutive month, according to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA).

Domestic sales in March this year in Japan stood at 667,129 vehicles, rising 39.75 percent over February but down 11.3 percent as compared with the same month of the previous year. In the meantime, the country's automobile exports in March amounted to 388,396 units, falling one percent month on month and down by 43,650 units or 10.1 percent compared to March 2012 and decreasing on year-on-year basis for the eighth consecutive month. The revenue generated by these exports amounted to $12.9 billion, including $9.1 billion for vehicles and $3.8 billion for parts. This is a decrease of $1.7 billion or 11.6 percent as compared with $14.55 billion recorded for the same month of the previous year.
