In US Housing Construction The Building Increased by 6.8%

In US housing construction the building starts in the twelve months up to and including May increased by 6.8% by comparison with the twelve month period up to and including April to 914,000. Building starts of multiple dwelling buildings, according to the US Census Bureau, Washington/D.C., increased by 24.9% to 306,000. In the case of detached houses a minimal increase to 599,000 was recorded. Building starts are not generally recorded for buildings with two to four apartments. Classified on a regional basis, the increase in building starts was strongest in the south of the USA at 17.8%, followed by an increase of 5.7% in the west. Declines, by contrast, were recorded in building starts in the mid-west (-13.7%) and in the north-east (-9%).
