Four New Trucks Have Been Introduced for Trial Runs on Indian Roads

Swedish truck maker Scania has introduced four new trucks, R 500 6x4 heavy duty puller, G 460 6X4 heavy duty puller, P 410 6X2 prime mover and P 360 4X2 prime mover, for trial runs on Indian roads.

The new range of trucks are optimised for process industries like chemicals, sensitive goods, coal and port handling operators for its trucks.

Scania R 500 6x4 heavy duty puller will come with a 500bhp, V8 turbo diesel engine mated to an automatic transmission unit, which Scania calls OptiCruise.

The G 460 6X4 puller will be powered by a 13 litre, turbo diesel engine mated to an OptCruise automatic transmission to deliver an outputs 460bhp.

Scania P 410 6X2 prime mover will be equipped with a 410bhp turbo diesel engine that comes with a liftable tag axle while the P 360 4X2 prime mover will get a 360bhp turbo diesel engine.

Additionally, the company plans to assemble the new trucks at its up coming plant at Narasapur near Bangalore from April 2013.

Scania said it is planning to manufacture 2,000 trucks and 1,000 buses within five years in India.
