Sales of electric cars and other plug-in vehicles are increasing rapidly in UK due to the grants provided by the UK Government.
Prices of ultra low emission vehicles (ULEVs) have been reduced up to 5,000 for cars and 8,000 for vans under the Government's Plug-in Car Grant.
The scheme was launched in 2010 and in the previous quarter ended in September 2014 over 5,000 grants was provided which was double the number of grants provided in the second quarter of 2014.
Department for Transport is planning to invest further 500 million between 2015 and 2020 for the plug-in car grant.
UK Transport Minister Baroness Kramer said: "It is not surprising that people want these vehicles - they are a pleasure to drive and incredibly cheap to run, as well as beneficial to the environment.
"The government is breaking down barriers that may have put people off in the past."
