A ramp-up in orders for LED driver ICs used in signage boards and lighting products will help Macroblock's monthly revenues rebound to more than NT$170 million (US$5.8 million) in March, a 10-15% sequential increase, according to industry sources. Revenues will continue their growth momentum through June, and are expected to rise 15-20% sequentially in the second quarter, the sources said. In response, Macroblock said it does not provide guidance. Macroblock saw its monthly revenues decline to about NT$150 million in January and February, after hitting an all-time high of NT$204 million in December 2011. Buoyed by a strong December, Macroblock's revenues for the fourth quarter of 2011 scored a quarterly high of NT$570 million. Macroblock enjoyed an influx of LED driver IC orders for public displays to be installed for the upcoming London Olympics during the fourth quarter, the sources indicated. The orders lost their momentum during the first two months of 2012 due to seasonal factors, but has started picking up in March, the sources said. Macroblock will likely generate record revenues in the second quarter, or see monthly revenues during the quarter exceed its current record high reached in December, the sources estimate. Market watchers expect Macroblock to enjoy more than 20% revenue growth in 2012. The firm reported NT$2.04 billion in 2011 revenues, an annual high. Source: www.digitimes.com
