US-based seafood supplier The Foley Fish has received achieved Marine Stewardship Council(MSC)Chain of Custody certification for its commitment towards quality and stewardship.
The company sells its products to fine dining restaurants,resorts,hotels and specialty retailers across the US.
Foley Fish owner Laura Foley Ramsden said the MSC certification is a crucial step for the company as it is committed to protect ocean resources and cater to the demand for sustainable seafood.
The company will now supply MSC-certified Chilean sea bass and plans to expand its offerings of MSC-certified products in a few months.
Recently,The Foley Fish unveiled a program that enables customers to use a QR code to view the boat and crew that sourced the seafood they are purchasing.The company operates processing facilities in Boston and New Bedford,Massachusetts.
The MSC Chain of Custody certification is a comprehensive traceability program that traces seafood from the point of sale back to an MSC certified fishery.It ensures that MSC-labeled products are sourced from a fishery that is MSC certified,and it protects buyers and the fishery from fraudulent labeling.
