Nestle Has Reintroduced Dark Chocolate Production at Its Facility in York

Dark Chocolate Output Returns at Nestle Uk Site

Nestle has reintroduced dark chocolate production at its facility in York following a "multimillion pound" investment at the site.

Full production will begin this month following trials, the confectioner said, and will be used in Kit Kat 70% Dark, Quality Street, After Eight, and Matchmakers. The site will be producing around 8,000 tonnes per annum.

Dark chocolate was last made at the facility until 2007 but following a site re-structure, capacity was lost and a decision was then taken to source from a third party.

"Nestlé's milk chocolate is produced at the Elect factory on-site and following the multimillion pound investment, plant improvements and greater efficiencies, capacity has been freed up within the factory to allow the production of dark chocolate to come back in-house," the company said.
