They Will Be Inspected and Tested for Leaks and Returned to The Customer's Place

Packaging company Nampak Megapak has introduced Mauser’s Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBC) in South Africa.

Designed for the bulk transportation of all liquids, including hazardous and sensitive products, the UN-approved 1000l IBCs fulfill all international packaging regulations.

Nampak Megapak divisional managing director Joel Sibanda said IBCs have the ability to unlock improved supply chain efficiencies and sustainability outcomes.

"One IBC substitutes five drums with a footprint of four drums," explains Sibanda. "This means more volume and less packaging in the same space!," Sibanda said.

Nampak Megapak has partnered with National Container Group (NCG), the reconditioning subsidiary of Mauser, in a bid to offer effect to the possibility of reusability.

As part of the service, empty and used IBCs will be picked up from a customer's premises and will be cleaned with environmentally friendly processes and products.

Later on, they will be inspected and tested for leaks and returned to the customer's place of business for further filling and shipping.

Each IBC is made under license from Mauser and involves three component parts, namely a container, a cage as well as a pallet.

Blow-molded from UV-stabilized high-density polyethylene (HDPE), the IBC'S can be used for a range of liquids, such as chemicals, foods, oils and pharmaceuticals.

Mauser-approved designs and materials such as all-wood, plastic/steel composites and a runner and frame can be selected for automatic filling lines and storage racks.

A range of valves and closures is also available. Some optional features include additional top openings for dispensing systems, special gaskets and venting.

Nampak Megapak offers two steel plates for labeling, as well as technical support in terms of filling, closing, warehousing, transporting, storing, shipping and load-securing.
