Ukraine Introduced a Quota of 10.2 Million Mt on Imports of Coal and Banned Coke

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has introduced a quota of 10.2 million mt on imports of coal (coking coal, bituminous coal and other types of coal) for 2013 and banned inbound shipments of coke this year in an effort to support local producers.

The government approved the limit on March 13, but the relevant decree was published only last Friday, April 5, on the cabinet's website.

At present, the share of imported coal constitutes 37.5 percent of total coking coal consumed by Ukraine.
