On The Orbis Steel Index The Scrap Indexes Moved Upwards

In the week from January 7 to January 13, on the Orbis Steel Index the scrap indexes moved upwards, with the Turkish scrap index rising for the fourth consecutive week. In the given week, the Turkish rebar index maintained its upward movement. The Turkish hot rolled coil (HRC) and cold rolled coil (CRC) indexes moved sideways, while the other flat rolled indexes increased. No downward movement was observed on the Orbis Steel Index in the week in question.

As per the Orbis Steel Index data, the index movements in the week from January 7 to January 13 as per product are as follows:

Turkish Scrap Index increased by 2.8 percent week on week to 168.36, rising for the fourth consecutive week.

US (East Coast) HMS I/II Scrap Export Index moved upwards in the given week. The index value increased by 3.35 percent to 173.88.

Turkish Rebar Index continued to increase. The index value rose by 0.87 percent to 150.28 compared to the previous week.

Turkish HRC Index maintained sideways movement, with the index value staying at 101.63.

Black Sea HRC Export Index started to increase, with the index value rising by 1.38 percent to 104.03.

Turkish HDG Index increased by 1.31 percent to 97.79 compared to the previous week.

Turkish CRC Index has not shown any changes compared to the previous week. The index value remained at 99.32.

Turkish Scrap Index: based on the weighted average of prices published by SteelOrbis of domestic ferrous scrap purchased weekly by Turkish steel mills, and imported HMS 80/20 CFR Turkey.

Turkish Rebar Index: based on the weighted average of prices published by SteelOrbis of commercial quality deformed steel reinforcing bars produced and sold by Turkish mills and subsequently merchants, both in the domestic market on ex-warehouse basis and for export on FOB Turkey basis.

Turkish HRC Index: based on the weighted average of prices published by SteelOrbis of commercial quality HRC produced or imported, and then sold by Turkish mills on ex-warehouse basis.
