Spring Air, a global leader in production, marketing and distribution of spring mattress, premium mattress and pillows, has marked its entry in the western Indian state of Gujarat with the launch of its first specialty mattress outlet in Surat city of the state.
The launch forms a part of the Rs. 5 billion investment plan announced by the US-based company for tapping the Indian market by launching 100 retail outlets across the country by 2015.
Covering an area of 350 sq ft, the store offers mattress and bedding items like Orthopedic, Europedic, Comfort Rest, Spine Support, Nature Rest, Protect-A-Bed and also premium pillows.
About penetration in Gujarat market, Ashok Sharma, CEO, Spring Air- Middle-East and Indian Sub-Continent said they are happy to unveil their first outlet in Surat to cater to their valuable customers in Gujarat.
In addition, establishment of two production units – one each at Mumbai and Kolkata – is also being considered by the company, he said.
The whole range of Spring Air collection has been developed while keeping in view the demands and likings of Indian customers, especially the luxury and support they seek in a mattress. Efforts have also been made to avert problems faced with traditional coir or cotton mattresses, he added.
Having established itself as one of the world’s largest mattress brand, Spring Air also positions itself as a world leader in the US$ 20 billion mattress and pillow market, he said.
Instituted in the US in 1926, Spring Air Bedding is considered to be one of the oldest bedding industry firms. Incorporated with NASA technology, the company’s products are sold in more than 40 countries world-wide under brand name ‘Spring Air’.
