BASF's Neopor Expandable Polystyrene Material Is Being Used to Make Insulation Panels

BASF says its Neopor expandable polystyrene material is being used to make insulation panels for two building projects in Germany. The buildings' back-ventilated curtain façade with the insulation panels are made by Swiss insulation material manufacturer Swisspor and offers good thermal insulation as well as weather resistant surfaces, says BASF. The insulation panels, which are approved at thicknesses of up to 200mm, are cut with a hot wire cutting device. They are easily secured to the sub-structure with insulation material holders known as insulation anchors and so do not have to be glued. This means that the panels can be mounted virtually all year round regardless of weather conditions, says BASF. The insulation projects were used to renovate a 1950s house in Ludwigshafen am Rhein into 12 apartments, and build a new office block in Erfurt. Source: European Plastics News
