Replas Is Set to Build a New Plastic Recycling Facility

Australia-based Replas is set to build a new plastic recycling facility in 2013 in South East Queensland.

Planned to funded equally by Australian Packaging Covenant (APC) and the Queensland Government, the $600,000 facility will process a range of soft and rigid waste-plastic packaging materials.

The materials would divert plastic packaging waste such as shopping bags, shrink-wrap films and sterile wrap from landfills.

Using the robotic technology developed by Replas, the facility will reprocess locally collected plastic waste and initially produce products such as bollards.

Recycled-plastic products are said to provide an alternative to timber that is durable and also better suited to harsh environmental conditions.
