Central European OSB Producers Have Firmed up Their Plans to Increase Prices

Central European OSB producers have firmed up their plans to increase prices in the first quarter, which they first mentioned back in October 2012. This move came in reaction to sustained stable demand and order backlogs still lasting several weeks as a result. Additional mark-ups had been instituted for a few grades at the start of the year. For instance, one of the two remaining suppliers of formaldehyde-free glued OSB/4 with approval for use by the construction supervising authority slightly widened the price gap to OSB/3 again for deliveries from 1 January onwards. The second supplier of OSB/4 with approval for use by the construction supervising authority is expected to raise prices during the first quarter, as well.
