The Prices of Building Materials Have Increased in Abu Dhabi

Increase caused by rise in demand. (CW Group) The prices of building materials have increased in Abu Dhabi, a report from the Khaleej Times said. According to the report, the average prices of 15 materials have increased in the country during the second quarter of 2011. The sharpest increases include the rental fees of transport equipment which recently rose by 39.1 percent due to the increases of rental fees for excavators and loaders. Previously, the Statistics Center of Abu Dhabi stated that the increase in prices was due to the rise in demand, the report said. The prices of power cables have risen by 44.1 percent from 2010. The prices of aggregates and sand also increased by 29.9 percent. The prices of wires for apartments have also surged by 26 percent. The prices of paint also increased by 3.6 percent due to a 14 percent increase in the price of durosan matt emulsion per gallon. The prices of steel products also increased by 4 percent. In June, however, several materials within the glass category posted price reductions of around 22 percent compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, bathroom sets and stainless steel sinks also witnessed price reductions in May by about 10 percent. Source: bmweek.com
