The designers at TokyoFlash have a philosophy about time pieces…..
Before the cell phone watches were common but nowadays many people feel there’s no need to wear one and the watch industry has suffered greatly. Our aim is to “CHANGE THE WAY YOU THINK ABOUT TIME.”
They are certainly living up to that vision with their available LED watches and also their concept watches. Hundreds of concepts are created and also submitted by other designers from around the globe. Each watch is individually designed from the bottom up then needs the time programmed into the IC chip as they all tell the time differently. Every component has new molding made for it and tooling setup for production. Then, every design is tested extensively. The designs are made in limited numbers, thereby keeping each one as a collector’s piece. Here are only a few of the highlights.
The Tron Watch design takes its inspiration from the film TRON, and it’s definitely something that will get noticed when it lights up. The two rings (styled on a Tron Disc) represent minutes (outer) and hours (inner). The break in the ring represents the time in a normal clock face layout.
The Vaco LED Watch is made of a hollow case with a light tube surrounded by a chrome ring and attached to a glossy plastic case and strap. The light tube is interrupted by a single and a double line, which are the minute and the hour hands of the watch. Time is read like a traditional analog watch. Both indicators use the same space but no mistakable overlapping. It is simple, intuitive, futuristic with a retro charm and style.
The jo-ge Watch shows time with three vertical rounded bars which move up or down. The first bar shows the hours, the second bar shows 10 minute group and the third bar shows single minutes.
The shown time depends on the position of those bars. The watch glass has a decent marking for each bar position and helps you in reading the time.
The LED Rays Watch concept can either be made in LED or e-paper. It is a retouch of the classic Eleeno 1259 watch with display for seconds. The lines on the right side represent hours (1-12), the left side lines represent minutes (1-9), and lower lines show 10 minutes group. The center square lines show seconds.
