2 Sisters Food Group has had an action-packed year. In June, its acquisition of Vion finally won approval from the Office of Fair Trading – safeguarding 5,000 jobs.
But it wasn’t all good news for the food manufacturer. Its plan to scrap 200 jobs in Perth and Kinross was branded as "stunning" and "devistating" by Unite the union.
It was also ordered to pay 153,500 for breaking food safety laws covering the shelf-life of its products in October.
2 Sisters’ acquisition of Vion and rumoured takeovers of Bakkavor, Bernard Matthews and Burton’s Biscuits meant it was rarely out of the headlines here on FoodManaufacture.co.uk.
