Porsche Is Planning to Unveil The Plug-in Version of The Panamera S Hybrid Next Year

German luxury automaker Porsche is planning to unveil the plug-in version of the Panamera S Hybrid next year.

The plug in will be powered by a 380-hp direct-injected 3.0-litre supercharged V-6 and eight-speed automatic with a separating clutch that facilitates the gas engine to be stopped while the car is in motion.

An electric motor is placed between the transmission and the engine which will drive the rear wheels for full-electric propulsion of about 19 miles.

Porsche said the plug-in Panamera is equipped with a mains charger and the small nickel-metal hydride battery is replaced by a bigger lithium-ion unit.

The 2012 Porsche Panamera S Hybrid offers a fuel-economy of about 22/30 mpg and is priced at $96,000.
