In the first half of this year, motor vehicle sales in Turkey totaled 305,075 units, decreasing by 24 percent year on year, according to the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD). Meanwhile, in June of the current year motor vehicle sales in the country saw a decline of 18 percent compared to the same month of 2013, totaling 63,826 units.
In the first half of this year, passenger car sales in Turkey amounted to 225,773 units, decreasing by 23 percent year on year. In June, passenger car sales decreased by 19 percent year on year to 47,278 units.
On the other hand, In the first half of this year Turkey's motor vehicle exports came to 452,591 units, up eight percent, while its passenger car exports amounted to 296,156 units, up 27 percent, both year on year. The country exported 142,274 small trucks in the period in question, down 15 percent year on year. Revenues from total motor vehicle and component exports in the first half of this year amounted to $11.94 billion, rising by 12 percent, while the revenue from passenger car exports totaled $3.89 billion, rising by 11 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
