Fire Resistant Glass From AGC's Pyrobel Range Is Used in GAC

a First for AGC's Pyrobel

Fire resistant glass from AGC's Pyrobel range is used in General Aviation Centre's (GAC) new S$10-million aviation hangar at Seletar Aerospace Park.

Pyrobel 53N fire resistant glass has been selected to glaze the compartments that separate the two meetings rooms and the unique carousel aircraft parking area, which will provide 120 minutes integrity and insulation in the event of a fire. The distinctive feature of this hangar is that it is a two-story carousel style aircraft parking system which can hold up to 14 light aircrafts.

Being a fully transparent glass, the whole Pyrobel glazing satisfied the project's exacting aesthetic and safety aspects, combing complete fire protection with clear visibility and high natural light transmission.

Mr Gan P.Y. , General Manager of VJF Systems Pte Ltd (authorised AGC Pyrobel distributor in Singapore) commented, "This is the first time we glazed Pyrobel in such a unique application. AGC Pyrobel fulfils integrity and insulation criteria, and matches the increased awareness for fire resistant glass glazing and architects' preference for a high vision area."

AGC's Pyrobel range of fire resistant glass are tested and approved according to BS 476:Part 22:1987 on both integrity and insulation criteria. In addition, Pyrobel is a safety glass that meets the requirement of BS:6206, and also offer excellent sound reduction properties between 40dB and 44dB depending on the speciifcation. An increasingly popular choice with architects and designers for its aesthetic properties, Pyrobel does not incorporate any wire and has a light transmission that is comparable to clear float glass.
