Canadian Western Forst Products Intends to Invest $16m

Canadian Western Forst Products intends to invest $16m by the middle of 2013 in the modernisation of its Saltair sawmill in Ladysmith. The most important improvements will be the cutting line and the trimming facilities. Furthermore additional conversion and modernisation measures are planned for the sorting and stacking areas. After work has been concluded WFP expects to increase softwood lumber production at the location from a former quantity of 160m bdft to 200m bdft in future as well as considerable cost savings in lumber production. The investment in Saltair is part of an investment plan compiled by WFP to the value of Can$200m, of which Can$125m are to be used for strategic investments and the remaining Can$75m are intended for modernisation measures.
