The Company'S Recycling Fundraising Brigade Programs Hit The 10 Million Mark

TerraCycle celebrated a new milestone, after the company’s recycling fundraising Brigade programs hit the 10 million mark in terms of the number of pieces of waste packaging saved from UK landfill.

Launched in the UK in 2009, TerraCycle offers collection programs across UK giving individuals, schools and organizations the opportunity to collect previously unrecyclable waste that could otherwise go to landfill, according to packagingeurope.com.

TerraCycle partners with UK brands such as Activia, Aquafresh, BIC, Ella's Kitchen, JOHNSON'S Baby, Kenco, McVitie's and Tassimo to facilitate everyday throw away packaging recyclable via their innovative recycling and fundraising schemes, which has been branded the TerraCycle Brigades.

Included in this program are biscuit wrappers, coffee packaging, yogurt pots, baby food pouches, baby wipes packaging and toothpaste tubes, plus actual products such as pens, toothbrushes, mobile phones, laptops and tablets.

The aim is to incentivize consumers to send in their waste packaging using freepost labels they can download from www.terracycle.co.uk. Post-consumer packaging sent in is recycled into everyday products such as watering cans and waste bins, with pre consumer waste being upcycled into the likes of shopping bags and baby bibs.

This initiative has helped UK public in raising over £133,000 for various worthy schools, charities and non-profit organizations.
