Medline, a manufacturer and distributor of health care products, has entered into a three-year agreement to distribute Scripps Health's medical and surgical supplies.
Under the agreement, Medline will distribute products directly to the health system's network of four hospitals and 23 ambulatory facilities, throughout San Diego County from its San Bernardino, California, US, distribution center.
Scripps Health, a $2.5bn nonprofit integrated health system, is involved in providing prevention, diagnosis and treatment services to acute-care hospital, home health care services, ambulatory care network of physician offices and 23 outpatient centers and clinics.
The distribution services, which will begin form 1 October 2012, is expected to save the health system $20m in supply cost reduction and through driving distribution system efficiencies over the term of the agreement.
