Open cell TV panels sized 32-inch have dropped to US$82 as panel makers meet demand for US$100 and below 32-inch TVs in the market.
Panel makers are running at full capacity to meet demand in North America for the year-end holidays and have been competing with other panel makers to land orders from TV vendors, causing panel prices drop as a result.
This has been most evident between China- and Taiwan-based panel makers as they try to out-price one another.
At present, China Star Optoelectronics Technology (CSOT) is shipping 1.5 million 32-inch TV panels a month while BOE shipped one million in October 2013.
About 40% of global TV shipments are 32-inch units
