Sonoco-Alcore, a subsidiary of packaging company Sonoco, is planning to divest its uncoated recycled coreboard mill in Schweighouse-sur-Moder, France.
Founded in1878, the Schweighouse-sur-Moder plant operates two machines with a total capacity of 95,000 tons. It is one of 20 paper mills that Sonoco operates globally.
Sonoco Alcore currently operates 29 tubes and cores plants and five paperboard mills in Europe. The tubes and cores produced by the company are 100% recyclable.
The company provides tube and core solutions including PrinTex cores and Hi-Radius cores, as well as services to customers in the paper, film, man-made fiber yarn, metal and construction industries.
In September this year, Sonoco introduced new FlatStack Ultralight to its existing range of FlatStack paperboard tier sheets.
The new FlatStack Ultralight can be used as an alternative to lightweight gypsum and paperboard sheets.
Sonoco's original FlatStack paperboard sheets are made out of 100% recycled fibers and are completely recyclable.
The FlatStack sheets offer a minimum 5% reduction in weight and 15% cost savings, when compared to typical corrugated tier sheets.
Sonoco's Ultralight grade allows the company to produces sheets in the caliper range of 10 to 50pt.
Sonoco sheets account manager Michael Krawson previously said: "The new Ultralight option offers our customers exceptional performance for a great price.
"Plus, it comes straight from our paper mills, meaning we can assure consistency in quality and security of supply."
