Lighting profits at LED manufacturer Dialight have risen by 180 per cent to £4.4 million in the first six months of this year, when compared to the same period in 2012 (£1.6 million).
According to the company’s results for the half year ended 30 June 2013, sales were particularly robust in Europe and Asia. The company said its dramatic rise in profits was the result of millions of pounds of investment in growth.The manufacturer has invested in increasing its lighting sales force to 86, up from 59 at the end of 2012.
In a statement, Dialight said: ”This increase in profit is after we have invested, as planned, almost £3 million in additional lighting sales resource to drive future growth and established two new manufacturing facilities in Malaysia and Mexico”.
Total revenue for Dialight’s lighting business soared by 70 per cent to £29.3 million and overall group revenue from continuing operations was £59.9 million (2012: £53.1 million).
Roy Burton, group chief executive at Dialight, said: “The first half has seen strong performance from our lighting segment with excellent growth. This gives us further confidence in the prospects of our ongoing strategy.”
