In the January-July period of this year, motor vehicle sales in Turkey totaled 367,340 units, decreasing by 23 percent year on year, according to the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD). Meanwhile, in July of the current year motor vehicle sales in the country saw a decline of 17 percent compared to the same month of 2013, totaling 62,192 units.
In the first seven months of this year, passenger car sales in Turkey amounted to 272,375 units, decreasing by 22 percent year on year. In July, passenger car sales decreased by 16 percent year on year to 46,602 units.
On the other hand, in the first seven months of this year Turkey's motor vehicle exports came to 532,033 units, up six percent, while its passenger car exports amounted to 352,660 units, up 26 percent, both year on year. The country exported 162,196 small trucks in the period in question, down 17 percent year on year. Revenues from total motor vehicle and component exports in the first seven months of this year amounted to $13.98 billion, rising by 11 percent, while the revenue from passenger car exports totaled $4.6 billion, rising by 10 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In the January-July period of the current year, Turkey's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 245,416 units, while passenger car imports totaled 203,629 units, both decreasing by 25 percent year on year.
