The Thailand Textile Institute (THTI) conducted a seminar titled ‘Local Value Connection to the Better Life’ to promote the Muslim textile and garment industry in the southern provinces, National News Bureau of Thailand reported.
The seminar was part of an initiative to spread information about the textiles and garments produced in THTI to the southern communities.
The Ministry of Industry, Thailand granted the THTI a fiscal year budget to conduct the seminar and for promoting Thailand textiles. The seminar discussed about the four main activities of the project to promote the Thailand textile industry, which included product design and development, production research, knowledge base propagation and product database preparation and evaluation.
The THTI project is being operated in five southern provinces including Songkhla, Satun, Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat, and will reach out to about a thousand participants.
The Vice Governor of Songkhla, Pirasin Punpeng presided over the opening ceremony of the seminar.
The THTI plans to continuously develop and focus on co-designing projects between Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia the next year.
THTI directs, promotes and supports cooperation in the textile and modern fashion industry in order to enhance the competitiveness of textile and garment industry, both domestically and internationally. (GK)
