According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in June this year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey increased by 32.1 percent year on year to 74,593 units, down 10.1 percent on month-on-month basis. In the first half of this year, new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey totaled 475,492 units, decreasing by 15.8 percent compared to the same period of 2013.
New passenger car registrations in June this year totaled 37,934 units, decreasing by 12.5 percent as compared to May and up 34.2 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 50.9 percent of total new motor vehicle registrations in the given month.
On the other hand, new small truck registrations in June decreased by 23.1 percent month on month and were up 12.8 percent year on year, amounting to 7,490 units. Small truck registrations constituted 10 percent of total new registrations in June.
