Novaled, a manufacturer of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) products, has signed a purchase and licensing contract with Samsung company (SMD) that provides advanced display solutions.

According to the agreement, SMD has agreed to purchase dopant materials for the transport layers of its Active Matrix OLED (AMOLED) display modules from Novaled for a number of years. SMD will also make use of Novaled’s PIN OLED technology for producing AMOLED display modules.
Samsung has teamed up with Novaled since 2005 to employ Novaled’s materials and technologies for producing advanced OLED products. The latest agreement with SMD has enabled Novaled to extend the utilization of its PIN OLED technology and high-performance OLED materials to next generation mobile AMOLED devices of SMD.
Novaled has produced various transport and doping materials for use in OLEDs to improve the benefits of its PIN OLED technology. Therefore, these OLEDs have prolonged service life, high power efficiency, high substrate compatibility and low driving voltage.
Novaled’s CEO, Gildas Sorin stated that Novaled materials are designed to satisfy customer requirements, particularly for devices that are mass-produced. It is evident from the Novaled’s recent agreement with SMD that the company has established a footprint in the R&D of OLED materials and technologies to improve the efficiency of OLED products. He further added that this agreement also confirms Nvaled’s strategy of building successful and long-standing relationship with prominent manufacturers of OLED display and lighting.
SMD’s CEO and President, S.I. Cho, said that the company focuses on developing new and advanced OLED technology and hence it continues to maintain close relationship with Novaled. The company is glad to extend its relationship with Novaled by signing this agreement while it continues to progress in the growth market.
