The Total Cost of Ground Transportation for Canadian Shippers Increased by 2.4%

The total cost of ground transportation for Canadian shippers increased by 2.4 percent in February over January, reported the the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI).

Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by carriers also increased, from 20.36 percent in Janaury to 21.53 percent in February.

"Cross border Truckload continued to drive the increase combined with fuel being at the highest level since May 2012." said Doug Payne, President and COO, Nulogx.

The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, increased by 1.9 percent when compared to January 2013.
