Speaking at the inauguration of Tex-Trends India 2015, Indian union textiles minister, Santosh Kumar Gangwar said the new National Textiles Policy will be unveiled after the Union Budget is presented.
The new Textiles Policy aims to achieve US $300 billion in exports by 2024-25 and creation of additional 35 million jobs.
Considering the many changes in the domestic as well as global textile sector front, the textiles ministry initiated a process of reviewing the old policy and create a new road map for the industry.
Tex-Trends India 2015 features over 403 exhibitors and displays a varied range of textile and apparel products from across India.
Gangwar added, "Our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has a dream to boost manufacturing with the ‘Make in India’ programme where world class products will be manufactured by a skilled work force with zero defects.
“Skilling India has also been up-scaled qualitatively as well as in large numbers to reap the advantage of demographic dividend."
"Several steps have been planned and taken to improve business confidence, encourage enterprises and persons to renew investment across all sectors, he informed.
“We are keen to provide an enabling atmosphere of proactive, speedy and empowered decision making for industrial growth which is crucial in achieving our developmental goals," Gangwar observed.
Virender Uppal, chairman AEPC said over 1,600 buyers and 117 buying agents have already registered for the fair.
According to Suniana Tomar, joint secretary in the Ministry of Textiles, Tex-Trends has attracted buyers from all major markets including the US, UK, Spain, Australia, Canada, Japan, Brazil, France, etc, and many more would be visiting the fair.
The trade show will house various theme areas from bodies and agencies like TEXPROCIL, NJB, EPCH, SETEPC, DISHA and CEPC which will display strengths of the Indian textile sector.
The event spread over 15824 square meters covers segments like apparel, fashion accessories, home furnishings, yarns, fabrics, silk, synthetic, cotton textiles & jute garments, etc. (AR)
